About
Miniature Horses Miniature Horses are usually 34" and under and should look like true little horses. There are two main registries for registering Mini Horses, the American Miniature Horse Association and the American Miniature Horse Registry. The Registry also allows a larger category of Minis, called "B's", to be registered that are 34" to 38". The temperament of Miniature Horses is much gentler, accepting and affectionate than "regular" horses. It is not uncommon to be able to lead Minis into buildings or trailers calmly the first time, especially if you have a bond of trust with your little Mini. However, we believe Miniature Horses should still have the benefit of training, proper handling and socialization regardless of their great temperaments! Miniature Horse care is the same as regular equine care, except for much less food! It is very easy to overfeed a Mini, especially if you are used to caring for larger horses. They require good hay, constant access to clean water, regular hoof trimming, regular worming and annual shots just like the big guys. For more information on Miniature Horses, I highly recommend the very thorough book: Miniature Horses: Their Care, Breeding and Coat Colors by Barbara Naviaux And I recommend the following Miniature Horse links:
